Olivia Bays joined Elliott & Thompson in January 2011, first as Publisher and subsequently Director. She is currently based in San Francisco, focusing on strategy and commissioning for our growing list. She read English at Downing College, Cambridge, before starting out in publishing at Profile and Walker Books. Her extensive editorial experience includes legal books and journals (for OUP and Kluwer) and starting up a public-facing magazine for the Commission for Racial Equality. Prior to joining Elliott & Thompson she was a commissioning editor at co-edition packager Elwin Street Publications, developing non-fiction titles for international publishers such as HarperCollins, Virgin, Wiley and A&C Black, as well as a freelance editor for clients including the Trades Union Congress. She has worked with a wide variety of organisations and bestselling authors to create books on a diverse range of subjects – from Global Radio to the Royal Geographical Society and Imperial College.
