Get to the heart of British life – Land of Plenty is out today!

Congratulations to Charlie Pye-Smith on the publication of his fascinating new book Land of Plenty: A Journey Through the Fields & Foods of Modern Britain!

Our farmers are facing the most uncertain future for a generation given the decision to withdraw from the European Union and its Common Agricultural Policy. In Land of Plenty, Charlie travels the length and breadth of Britain to provide a rich and timely portrait of this essential aspect of our national heritage: farming. Covering the dairy industry in Somerset and Gloucestershire; beef in the Scottish Borders; sheep in North Yorkshire; pigs and poultry in East Anglia and Hampshire; vegetables in the Fens and Norfolk; fruit in Essex and the West Country; and wild game in the Lake District and Pennines, this is a colourful and rewarding travelogue that gets to the very heart of modern British life.

Following appearances on BBC Local Radio and Adam Boulton’s All Out Politics on Sky News this week, do keep an eye out for Charlie in the media over the coming weeks and months!
